About

The Cayman Heart Fund is a non-profit, non-government organization dedicated to the reduction of heart and circulatory disease in the Cayman Islands. Heart and circulatory disease, known as cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the #1 health problem in the Cayman Islands. Our aim is to help prevent and reduce the early deaths, long-term disabilities and widespread suffering that heart and circulatory diseases cause our people.

 

Our Mission:

    • Implement educational programmes in our schools, workplaces and communities that are designed to combat heart and circulatory diseases.

 

    • Implement awareness programmes to educate the public in recognizing the signs and symptoms of an acute coronary event Implement screening programmes to help diagnose high Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and Diabetes.

 

    • Implement CPR and Defibrillator certified training courses in our workplaces and communities and ensure that all rural communities have ready access to defibrillators.

 

    • Improve cardiac care facilities and equipment in our Hospitals.

 

    • Improve diagnostic techniques for the early detection of CVD in both women and men.

 

    • Improve the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and congenital heart disease.

 

    • Improve women’s understanding of their high risks of CVD.

 

    • Improve the health of our country’s children thru the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

 

    • Support the elimination of smoking in public buildings; the elimination of trans fats from our country’s restaurants and the reduction of refined sugars in our diets.

 

    • To accomplish our mission we will work in partnership with those members of the public who wish to be involved in our Mission; with our Government’s Representatives; with the Department of Health; the Health Services Authority; the George Town Hospital; the Chrissie Tomlinson Hospital; with the Island’s Doctors, Dentists and other Medical Professionals; with our Schools Representatives; with our Communities Representatives; with our local Charities; with Health, Fitness and Diet Instructors; with our country’s Media; with our Insurance Companies; with our local Companies, Businesses and Employers and, with those from overseas that care so much about the well-being of the people of the Cayman Islands.
